How to make a WordPress site easier for AI answers to understand

You do not need a special plugin or a secret trick. Most of what helps AI tools understand a WordPress site is good, clear website work. This checklist walks through what to do, in an order that makes sense, and why each step helps.

1. Say clearly what the business is

Put a plain sentence near the top of the home page: what the business does, who it is for and where it works. Use the same name, address and description everywhere on the site. If a machine has to guess what you do, it may guess wrong, or skip you.

2. Answer real questions

List the questions customers actually ask, from your emails, calls and sales conversations. Answer each in a few honest sentences on the page where it belongs. A short FAQ section works well, and it is useful to people as well as to software. Keep answers specific: prices, what is included, how things work, what happens next.

3. Use proper headings

One main heading per page, then logical sub-headings in order. Do not use headings just to make text bigger. Headings are how both readers and machines scan a page, so each section should make sense on its own.

4. Write in short, self-contained sections

AI tools often pull a passage rather than a whole page. A section that opens with a direct answer and then explains is easier to quote correctly than one that buries the point. Avoid vague pronouns and “as mentioned above” where you can.

5. Add structured data

Structured data labels things such as the business, its services, its articles and its FAQs in a form software reads easily. An SEO plugin can add the basics, and a custom theme can add them cleanly. Check that it matches what is on the page, because wrong or exaggerated markup does harm.

6. Keep the site healthy

  • Fast pages and a layout that works on phones
  • Working links and no broken pages
  • An up-to-date site, because outdated plugins cause problems
  • A sitemap, so every page can be found
  • Settings that do not block search crawlers by accident (check Settings, Reading, and the robots file)

7. Make it easy for crawlers to read

Important content should be in the page text, not locked inside images or loaded only after a click. If key facts are only in a picture, a machine cannot read them. Give images short, accurate alt text.

8. Consider an llms.txt file

An llms.txt file is a short plain-text summary of your site and its main pages, placed in the root of the site. It is a new and still unofficial convention, and nobody can promise it changes anything, but it is cheap and it makes a useful description of the business. Ours is at pixoverstudios.com/llms.txt.

9. Build trust on the page

State who is behind the business, show real examples of work, and keep claims honest. Pages that are vague, exaggerated or anonymous give little reason to be trusted by people or by machines.

10. Check and keep an honest record

Try real customer questions in a few AI tools and note what they say about the business. Do it again after a few months. Treat it as a guide, because answers change.
